I can say, with certainty, that I'm driven to succeed.
I've asked myself several times throughout my lifetime, what does success look like? Is success measured by financial stability, popularity, spirituality, material richness, self-fulfillment, education, the ability to sustain a lasting relationship, having a dream career? What is it?
I've learned that success varies in appearance depending on your interpretation.
After receiving all of my inspirational "Oprahisms" last week during her final show, it made me realize my own purpose in life.
It's clear to me that this is my platform, right here and now.
God has designed this platform for me to write and share my experiences - the good, the bad and the ugly and in the process, hopefully help others along the way.
My goal is to inspire readers to strive for personal success and the understanding that through every bad relationship you encounter, that you are bound to meet the person that you're destined to be with. Love does exist and it doesn't have to be one-sided.
I've been asked numerous times, how I was introduced to the Six Brown Chicks. I'm consistently complimented on our success and how amazed people are that we are growing at such a rapid pace and how proud they are of us.
I'm extremely elated to be a part of such amazing and uniquely designed women. We are six women with six voices, six personalities, six paths that each have taken with one thing in common - a passion for writing.
Just prior to February 1st, I received an email from Zondra Hughes, with the opportunity to blog with a group of women authors. We would be known as the Six Brown Chicks.
I have to be honest, I didn't know what the heck blogging was all about but I didn't dare let on that I hadn't a clue.
I did my homework and learned about blogging, and how it can catapult your business to the next level.
For months, I had been trying to get my book, Goodbye Don't Always Mean Gone in the newspaper in which Zondra was the editor. She and I were coincidentally on the same author's panel, and I had given her my book so that it could be featured in the newspaper.
Everything worked out as planned and I made my debut in the newspaper. It was an accomplishment and I was extremely excited. I didn't wait for Zondra to send copies of the paper in which I was featured -- I wanted to pick them up myself.
Coincidentally, the day I went to pick up the newspapers, she and I ended up riding in the elevator together and I explained that I was there to pick up the edition of the newspaper that my book was featured in. She welcomed me into the office that day by introducing me to the staff.
Ours was more than a chance encounter - I believe it was predestined. Zondra had witnessed my drive and determination through my follow-up emails. She witnessed my passion for success, which later helped her make her decision to invite me to join the illustrious Six Brown Chicks.
So let me reiterate . . . are you driven to success?
If opportunity knocks on your door are you willing and prepared to answer? My advice is to be prepared and make sure you don't block your own blessings in life and by all means make sure others don't stand in the way of your success!
