First of all, I want to say Happy Pride Day! LGBT-ers I admire your ability to fight the good fight with such love, grace, courage and creativity. You make the world a better place. Undoubtably you are great teachers in our world. You could certainly teach the rest of us a lot about self-love! Recently a pal of mine said she felt she had self-esteem but didn't have self-love. I had to ponder the difference.
Self-esteem is usually created by doing something esteem-able whether it be winning a race or losing those last five pounds. Self-esteem usually requires effort and "doing". Self-love requires being and allowing. Self-Love is simply loving yourself no matter what. Even on those lazy days spent on the couch. Even when you wake up with a pimple on your face. I look at it like this: Self-Love is my Plan A, Self-Esteem is my Plan B. I love myself enough to challenge myself, I will workout when I don't always want to because I know how good I will feel when I am done. If this concept were a recipe it would like this: start out with 1 cup of Self-Love and add a few dashes of Self-Esteem.
Speaking of building self-love, I recently posted an article on the wonderful Kidfirmations website. Kidfirmations empowers children and parents with practical tools for living in alignment with their true nature. I share my own story as well as affirmations for children.
