I hate coming up with Friday post headlines. I know they look lazy and trite but I'm at a loss how to make them more exciting! Maybe FREE STUFF FRIDAY but then people will be annoyed at the lack of free stuff.

So we're approaching the 25th weekend of the year. Weird to be nearly half way doesn't feel like the year is almost over! Had a great dinner at Perennial Virant last night just not sure I'll ever be able to sneak in to a Boka group restaurant again in my life. Also we have a Father's Day ideas at the end of the post - I'll add more as they come in

Prairie Fire (215 N. Clinton in Chicago; 312-382-8300) is honoring World Ocean Day in cooperation with the John G. Shedd Aquarium 6 p.m. June 8. The event features presentations by Shedd Aquarium staff-Melanie Napoleon, Senior Director of Great Lakes Conservation and Brooke Havlik, Sustainable Seafood Educator-and an educational, all-inclusive four-course dinner with pairings for $100 per person. Suburban Fun
Nick's Pizza & Pub
is hosting Family Fun, a special kid-friendly evening benefit to support the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Kane County on Thursday, June 16, 2011, from 6 to 9 p.m. Family Fun will take place in the Nick's Pizza & Pub banquet room and patio area. The event is open to the public and will feature pizza, beverages, live music, and a gift-basket raffle.

This is the inaugural year that Nick's Pizza & Pub is hosting the CASA Kane County benefit. Kid-friendly activities will be taking place at the restaurant throughout the day, including face painting, balloon animals, bingo, a fun photo opportunity to get a picture taken with the Nick's Pizza & Pub moose-and much more! Family Fun is a public event open to everyone. Tickets are $25.00 for adults and $15.00 for guests under 21 and will be available at the door. Lockwood Restaurant will turn into a wine-lovers nirvana on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, when the culinary team joins forces with leading Napa Valley winery Napa Station for a contemporary farm-to-table tasting experience in the heart of Chicago. Showcasing premium, sustainably-farmed wines produced in California, flavor profiles of the highlighted vintages will complement the fresh menu prepared by Lockwood Executive Chef Gregory Elliott.

Bottle Service Brunch
Mercadito (108 W. Kinzie St.) is shaking up the typical weekend brunch experience with Brunch Bottles every Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. While the "party brunch" scene is a typical occurrence in New York, Mercadito is setting the summer brunch standard in Chicago with live DJ performances, and handcrafted, tableside bottle service of Bloody Marys ("El Bloody") and mimosas ("Mas Mimosa") created by the Tippling Bros served alongside a modern Mexican brunch menu from Chef Patricio Sandoval. Cajun fun at Café de Architects
On Tuesday, June 21, Sofitel Chicago Water Tower will celebrate Fête de la Musique, a global day of music that coincides with the summer solstice. In honor of this spirited event, Café des Architectes will offer a special New Orleans-style menu by Executive Chef Greg Biggers. From 6-10 p.m., guests will also be able to enjoy live jazz music, specially curated by notable Chicago jazz promoter John Moultrie. The special prix fixe menu features some Cajun favorites, where guests have a choice between two items for each course, for the cost of $58 per person (excluding tax and gratuity).

BURGER Special
As Memorial Day kicks off summer, what better way to celebrate than with an American classic with a twist! Beginning June 6 through June 11, Executive Chef Scott Walton of Markethouse (611 N. Fairbanks Ct.), a farm-to-table restaurant that celebrates the flavors of America's heartland, will offer his limited-time only Grassland Butter Bacon Burger for only $6.
Offered for lunch and dinner, the new 5 oz burger, made with a bacon-filled Angus beef patty and organic Grassland Butter, is topped with a Slagel Farm fried egg, Big Ed's Gouda cheese and Markethouse pickles.
