The third of four men convicted of murder after a fight on a CTA platform led to the electrocution death of Daniel McKenzie has been sentenced to 28 years in prison.

Maurice Evans, a 25-year-old Near West Side man, was sentenced Thursday, according to a Tribune report. He had faced a maximum of 60 years in prison. Evans and three other men kicked and beat McKenzie after a fight on a Red Line moved to the Roosevelt platform. McKenzie fell onto the third rail and died during the fracas.

From the Tribune:

"Brothers Clint and Martell Johnson, who were also a part of the beating, were sentenced to 20 and 21 years in prison respectively.

"A fourth man, Antwaun Thompson, 29, who was convicted in a separate murder trial that coincided with Evans', is scheduled to be sentenced next week."
I'm happy to see the convictions and long sentences.
