Anyone listening to his comments regarding the legislative remap he signed into law Friday, could see exactly what I mean by that:
"Ensuring that everyone's voice is heard in government is crucial to our democracy." "For the first time, the people of Illinois have been able to participate in public hearings and have their voices heard in drawing their legislative districts. I want to commend lawmakers for significantly increasing openness and transparency in the remap process."
What? Who in the fuck are you kidding old man?
The truth is - there was no real transparency and that the so-called public participation was slim to none. Illinois Democrats took advantage of their enviable position of being in total control of the State Legislature and the Governor's Mansion for the first time in 40 years. Like I said in a previous post, to the victors go the spoils and the Democrats are attempting to make the Illinois GOP disappear. Then again, the Illinois GOP has been in bed so long with
the power players who run the state one wonders if this isn't the wake-up call they need to rebuild a party in rapid decline.
As for Governor Huckster, using the Friday Trash News Cycle to sign into law a very contentious and controversial bill is just his style. Quinn is nothing more than a snake in the grass and even his one noble attribute of supporting our veterans should be questioned since he has cut the shit out of various programs that ultimately effect those coming back from war and their immediate families. But hey, Quinn seems to think that the Federal Government has
done an outstanding job for our veterans, when in fact they haven't.
Yes sir, that Huckster Governor of ours is a real slime ball alright.
As for that Legislative remap, well, the taxpayers will screwed royally if the impending court challenge by the GOP comes up empty. Giving the Democrats this much power for the next decade is an affront to every taxpaying voter in the state. We must not forget who is responsible for the dire financial mess Illinois is in. And the fact that the Democrats didn't have total control when they reeked their original havoc, one can only assume that all hell will bust loose if this remap is upheld.
The voters have been warned over and over again, yet they have slept through it all.
You want transparency? Then you must demand it!
Unless of course -
you want the Huckster and his Merry Band of Thieves staying in your pocket!
