Generally, owning an Hermes scarf all by itself is something I pine for, and lord knows Leslie Hindman has deluge of them every time a vintage couture auction rolls around. Still, I have a hard time justifying spending $300 on a scarf, seeing as I need to eat and everything.

However, if you're one of those people that has one vintage Hermes silk too many, Robert Verdi has the perfect solution for your overstocked scarf drawer: re-upholster your Vans with them. This is one of those ideas that is so perverse it's fabulous: French fashion status symbol meets urban skater.

I have no idea where you would procure these, but if you have any skill with cobbling or sewing this could be an excellent DIY. With, you know, non-couture $3 vintage scarves that you fish out of the bin at Ragstock. Those scarves need homes, too.
