Thinking about heading up to the Wisconsin Dells for a little family getaway sometime this summer? Not sure where to start your planning? Wondering which hotels and waterparks are the best fit for your family?

As any experienced parent knows, family vacation tend to go a lot smoother when you have a plan -- it is not easy to "wing it' with hungry and little kiddos. So if you are thinking about a trip to the Dells sometime in the coming weeks, I definitely suggest that you do your homework before hand. Figure out which hotel will work best for your family. Think about some good dining options that will make everyone in the family happy. Make a list of the attractions that you are hoping to see during your stay. This may sound like a lot of work -- but no need to feel overwhelmed. The Wisconsin Dells Visitos & Convention Bureau has tons of great resources to help you get started planning your trip.

I have a few tips to share that will help you get started planning a great family vacation in the Wisconsin Dells. Start by visiting wisdells.com. This site is a wealth of information. You can see a full listing of the best waterparks, hotels and other accommodations, restaurants and other attractions.

You can even peruse special packages and deals and check out the month-by-month calendar of special events.  You can also sign up for the e-newsletter to get even more updates and deals and special events. Chance are that you are going to be able to find the information you need to plan a fantastic trip right on this site.

My second tip is to order yourself a copy of The Official Guide of the Wisconsin Dells Visitor Bureau. All you have to do is go to the website wisdells.com and click on the tab on the upper right-hand corner that says "Plan You Vacation." Under that tab, select "Request a Vacation Guide." Simply input your information and they will mail you a copy of the most recent edition. Or you can call (800) 223-3557 and order one over the phone.

I have found this guide to be an invaluable planning resource in the past. Not only did I use it to plan our trip beforehand, I kept it with me during our trip so I could use the maps and access other details like hours of operation for the attractions we were heading out to see. It is just a super helpful, all-around resource that will make your trip easier. And its free!

So go ahead and check out wisdells.com and order your vacation guide and then I will be back next week to tell you more about some of my favorite spots to stay in the Dells.  Let the summer vacation planning officially begin!
