First, there were Tigers fans everywhere. I just hate that. Stay home.Second, I found out that they are no longer selling my delightful popcorn chicken in center field (if you ever see it elsewhere, let me know!!) AND they no longer have the raspberry lemonade italian ice. You used to get 4 little scoops for what I swear was less than 5 bucks, and now you get 3 little scoops for 5 dollaz. Without the raz lemonade, we are left with just lemon, strawberry, and blue raspberry. Slim pickins'.
Third, my pet Peav strikes again. The game was looking glorious early on as the Sox scored 2 in the 1st on a PK double and a wild pitch. Peavy was perfect through 3 innings. As usual, the Sox could have scored a few more off of the mediocre Brad Penny, but Peav was cruising so it didn't seem so bad. Then, also as usual, disaster struck in the form of a botched double play and a Miguel Cabrera grand slam. I mean Victor Martinez. Damnit, I mean Ryan Raburn. Suddenly, we're in a 6-2 hole that we would not climb out of.

Yes, this sucked. What could be even worse than that 6 run inning, though? The feeling I got when Jake did not come out for the 5th inning after throwing 75 pitches through 4. The casual game-goer might think Peavy was just spent after that big inning, but us pros know better. This had "injury" written all over it. He always seems to whip one out when he gets in a jam, and this time it's a strained groin and a re-evaluation tomorrow. I suppose we should be pleased that he still has all of his muscles on his persons, but GOOD GOD just stop with the injuries. We still have to pay you, and it sucks. We'll see about it tomorrow, but knowing Peavy, it will keep him out for the duration of his contract (kidding...I hope).
The Sox really needed this series against a division rival. You can see the frustration building with Alex Rios benched, Adam Dunn being booed off the field, and AJ Pierzynski slamming his bat into the ground after striking out. After sweeping Boston, this is exactly what we didn't need. With Seattle coming to town this week, the short memory has to come into play. John Danks is STILL going for his first win (which I recall begging for before, like, his fourth start), and half of the lineup has to step up with summer finally here. It's go time.
And by the way, SOMEONE explain to me how THIS GUY (Brad Penny):
is engaged to THIS girl:
????????????????
He must have a really appealing personality.
