Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich greets his lawyer Sheldon Sorosky as he arrives at the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse in Chicago for the verdict in his corruption trial (Tribune photo by Michael Tercha)

Bad day for Blago
Justice has been done

Serious charges
Extortion and corruption
Wire fraud, bribery

It seems quite likely
They'll empty his bank account
And send him to jail

The Tribune reports ...

Blogojevich showed no reaction as the jury found him guilty on 17 of 20 counts against him. The jury deadlocked on two counts and found him not guilty of one count.

After the verdicts were read, the former governor sat back in his chair with his lips pursed and looked toward his wife Patti and whispered, "I love you."

As the first guilty verdict was announced, Patti Blagojevich slumped into the arms of her brother, who stroked her head. Before the verdict was even read, she had started crying.  She kept shaking her head "no" as the jurors left the courtroom.

As he left hisRavenswood Manor home for the courtroom earlier today, Blagojevich had told reporters,  My hands are shaking, my knees are weak." He said he was praying for the best.  "It's in God's hands."

Blagojevich stopped to hug one onlooker and thanked her for her support.  Another onlooker jeered, calling to Blagojevich to enjoy his time in jail.
