Per Ric Bucher:

The Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers have discussed a trade that would send the Warriors' leading scorer, Monta Ellis, to the 76ers for Andre Iguodala, according to league sources, including one with direct knowledge of Golden State's thinking.

One source stressed that completion of the deal is not imminent but that it has merits for both sides.

This trade potentially makes a world of sense for both teams.

They both move a guy who doesn't fit with a younger guy they want to develop for someone they hope will fit with that guy while maintaining a fairly even cash flow (the 76ers come out a bit ahead financially on the deal).

The only way the Bulls break up this deal is if one of the teams decides it'd rather have salary relief than a player, in which case, Chicago can offer some salary relief and late 1st rounders rather than a talented player back which is the type of deal I hope they make anyway.

The other possibility is that the Bulls could theoretically get involved as a third team to land one of the players while sending additional assets to both teams and salary relief to one team, but that seems like a stretch.

Ultimately, if I'm either of these teams,  I see little sense in including Chicago in a three team deal or working with Chicago directly unless my owner is beating me over the head with a cost driven agenda.  Talentwise, neither team is likely to utilize the freed up cap room or late draft picks to improve the team more than taking the talented player.

If this trade were to go down, it would pull two players off the table whom may have theoretically been available for cap relief, narrowing down their options to swing a salary oriented trade.
