The CTA board on Wednesday played the name game in formally deciding on names for two new rail stations under construction, and changing a station's name in use by the CTA since 1964.

The Yellow Line's Skokie station now will be called Dempster-Skokie to differentiate from the newly christened Oakton-Skokie, scheduled for completion by the end of the year. The board also officially settled on Morgan as the name of the station under construction on the Green/Pink lines.

"CTA rail stations are typically identified by the nearest cross street to accurately describe the location of the station," CTA President Forrest Claypool said in a press release. Andperhaps that explains why Chicago and Grand on the Red Line were renamed Chicago/State and Grand/State.

i still miss the CTA canned announcement: "This is Grand."
