There was a whole lotta shakin' going on as former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich walked from his Ravenswood Manor home to an awaiting SUV. And it appears that his shakin' was justified as the jury lowered the boom on him. Blagojevich was found guilty on 17 of 20 Federal Charges leveled against him.

The jury has spoken!

As I have often remarked, I felt Rod Blagojevich was guity as sin. But, I also felt that if he was guilty then there are a hell of a lot of others who are just as much so. Illinois Politics, for the lack of a better word, is corrupt to its core. So while another one bites the dust in another one of these snail paced indictments against former or sitting politicians, I am confident that nothing will change in Illinois.

The rare convictions are in no way a deterrent to the unscrupulous politicians that have made a bigger career of sitting in cigar-filled back rooms splitting up taxpayer money for themselves and cronies than actually legislating on behalf of the people.

Given that, it has to remain a bittersweet day for Illinois.
