No doubt by now, many of you have seen the movie "The Social Network," the story about the founding of Facebook.  Yes, it is true, then Harvard sophomore Mark Zuckerberg created the site that now boasts 700 million users.  Think about that, if it were a country, Facebook would be the third most populous nation on the planet.

The Golden Globe winning movie is based on the book by Ben Mezrich, the author of "Bringing Down the House," which is the story of the M.I.T. blackjack team that took Vegas casinos for millions by using a sophisticated card counting scheme.

The movie was based on the book, "The Accidental Billionaires." Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin also used depositions from the two lawsuits depicted in the film to also compose his Academy Award winning script.  Mezrich pretty much acknowledges that much of his info came directly from Eduardo Saverin.  He also has a lot of detail about what happened out in Silicon Valley that could only have come from Sean Parker, or someone very close to him.

Some of the events in the movie are not depicted in the book, but several are.  There was no breakup scene with the girl from Boston University, and the book actually begins at the Caribbean-themed frat party where Eduardo and Mark Zuckerberg first cemented their friendship.

The book is a less dramatic, but in some ways more fascinating look at the birth of Facebook, or thefacebook, as it was called in the early days.

Below in the picture gallery are some of the key players and their real life counterparts.
