I don't normally go into too much detail about my business but in the face of the recent negative articles about the local market I have taken on three new listings recently. They are all very attractive properties that will generate some nice interest.

Socially, I have attended two Galas recently that merit some attention. First was the Chicago Consular Ball at the Chicago Hilton, hosted by Chicago Sister Cities International, where the Heads-of-Mission for 81 different countries came together in harmony and style. What a great tribute to our City to have one of the largest diplomatic communities outside of Washington D. C. itself! The amazing Ann Lurie was presented with the 2011 Global Citizen Award, a significant and well-deserved honor. The second Gala was the Chicago Architecture Foundation Annual Gala at the Fairmount Hotel on May 20. It was a beautiful event, benefitting educational programs that will help people be aware of the importance of our architectural legacy and preservation efforts, to help ensure we will have a beautiful Chicago for centuries to come! Speaking of beautiful architecture, I am on the fence about the decision on whether to demolish the Prentice Women's Hospital building, designed by Bertrand Goldberg, but I am fascinated by his work and wanted to highlight it here. He lived on Astor Street just across from my new listing, coincidentally enough, and River City and of course Marina Towers are just two of the many examples of his amazing work. There will be a huge show about him at the Art Institute of Chicago in September! Finally, I wanted to post news of a special event, an Open House at Chicago Shriner's Hospital for Children, which will be celebrating 85 Years of Caring for Kids at the hospital, located at 2211 N. Oak Park Avenue. My friend Dr. Jeff Ackman was recently promoted to be Chief of Staff for this tremendous institution, so I encourage one and all to give it your support! 04 Jun, 2011 --
