A Game by Game Look at Bulls/Heat Series

The Bulls were defeated by the Heat in five games, but anyone who watched the series knows the number one seeded Bulls were capable of reaching the Finals.

After the Bulls came up big in game one no one predicted four straight losses. It shocked many of us, but it was easy to concede to Miami after seeing the amount of talent they have at full force.

Here is a look back at all five games and how they went down.

Game One
(Bulls win 103-82)
Heading in to the series there were many questions floating around, and the Bulls answered   them after a 103-82 smack down at the United Center. The Heat and Bulls were tied at 48 at half, but it was all Bulls after that. The fourth quarter was essentially the deciding factor in each game, and the Bulls won it in game one outscoring Miami 31-19.

Derrick Rose played well with 28 points, but the game was won with defense and the "Benchmob." The Bulls held Wade and James to 18 and 15 points, shutting down two of the best scorers in the game. The bench came up big and out scored Miami's 28-15.

Game one left us all excited and gave us legitimate reasons to believe that the Bulls were capable of making it to the Finals.

Game Two
(Heat win 85-75)
The second game of the series was when the momentum shifted heavily. Miami stole home court advantage with a 85-75 win. The Bulls led by seven after the first, but Miami won the rest of the quarters.

Miami got help from an unlikely savior when Udonis Haslem came off the bench and knocked down five of 10 field goals while making every free throw. The opposite could be said about Chicago's shooting. Derrick Rose struggled all game missing 16 of 23 shots from the field and as a team the Bulls shot just 61.5 percent from the line.

This is a game the Bulls had to have been kicking themselves about. Their shooting was miserable and they were within a few big shots of going to Miami up 2-0. Instead, they were limited to 10 points in the fourth quarter and allowed the Heat to bring the momentum to an excited crowd in Miami.

Game Three (Heat win 96-85)
Chris Bosh put many critics to rest after he had the performance of a lifetime. Bosh finished with 34 points and made nearly everything he let go as Miami won their second straight 96-85.

Miami was also backed by great defense holding the Bulls top three scorers(Deng, Rose, Boozer) under 50 percent shooting. Derrick Rose had his worst game of the series finishing with 20 points on 8 of 19 shooting and was never able to penetrate to the rim.

This game may have scared Bulls fans the most. Miami began to gain steam, and the series started to looked like it could be all Heat the rest of the way.

Game Four (Heat win 101-93)
This was a game the Bulls had to have if they wanted any chance at winning the series. The Bulls played solid for the entire game and left Derrick Rose a chance to win it with seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately for Rose and the Bulls, he was guarded by LeBron James. Rose tried to dribble past James, but was cut off each time and had to settle for a jumper that had no chance.

When the game went to overtime is was apparent that Miami would come out on top. The Heat's momentum and home crowd were too much for the Bulls to handle. The Heat outscored the Bulls 16-8 in the extra session and took a commanding 3-1 series lead.

This was dagger through the heart of Bulls Nation, and made it seemingly impossible for the Bulls to advance to the Finals. A learning experience: yes. Heartbreaker: definitely .

Game Five (Heat win 83-80)
No Bulls fans wanted such a fun and exciting season come to an end, especially this way. Leading by 12 with 3:14 left in the game, the Bulls began to allow Miami back in to the game. Nearly everything went wrong in the past few minutes: four point plays, numerous fouls, turnovers, and missed shots.

LeBron James scored 12 points in the final quarter to lead the comeback and move on to the Finals. The MVP missed a crucial free throw that would have tied the game with 26 seconds left.

This game was absolutely devastating to Bulls fans. A win, and the Bulls make the series interesting heading back to Miami. A loss, and the Bulls are sent packing with their first four game losing streak of the season. It was a tough one to swallow, but like Derrick Rose said, they'll learn from it.

It was a fun season that ended on a down note, but there will almost certainly be a rematch between these two Eastern Conference powerhouses for years to come. Which means, the Bulls must get better.
