We Will Play Baseball

I arrived at the ballpark today to see something I had never seen before--nothing.  The fog was so thick around 9:40 that I could barely make out the scoreboard in CF. We would not have been able to play if it had been 1:20 due to the fog.  Now, as I write around 11 am, it is still very foggy in the area with thunder booms going off in the distance.  The lights are coming on and it looks like it's 11 pm, not 11 am.  It's been a head-scratching spring weather-wise for sure.

Onto the team stuff, Geovany Soto is back off the DL after a 2-game stint with AA Tennessee.  He's available off the bench today.  Koyie Hill gets the start--he's 6-11 with a HR off Jeff Karstens.  Welington Castillo will head back to Iowa.

Also, Reed Johnson is going to the DL with lower back spasms.  OF Brad Snyder will take his spot on the roster.  That means more playing time for Tony Campana with 2 CFs on the DL--Johnson and Marlon Byrd.  Bad timing for Brett Jackson, who recently suffered a finger injury.  You have to think he'd be here if healthy.

The Cubs try to avoid being swept by the Pirates in a 3-game series at Wrigley for the 1st time since 2000.
